Is calcium oxide soluble or insoluble?

Calcium Oxide is insoluble in water. When mixed with water it forms slaked lime (which is actually Ca(OH)2) better known to families as Lime Water (for infant Colic). While it may seem to be a solution (therefore soluble) it actually is a very opalescent mixture more reminiscent of a suspension (or colloidal dispersion) than a solution.
