7th Day Adventists, fundies, liberals, or somewhere in between?

I have a friend who says he a 7th Day Adventist. He seems to be a bible literalist, believing in all the genesis stories. Is this what the church professes? The funny thing is that he is a biual who has had lots of gay . How does the church feel about ity. In addition, he believes a number of things that I thought were unchristian, such as astrology, black magic, and witches. How does all of this square? Being an atheist, I'm kind of in the dark here. I'm honestly trying to understand his philosophy.
